Privacy policy
State of CMS is an open survey of the CMS market. We want your answers, not your identity.
The survey
The survey does not ask for your name, and you do not need an account. Apart from your email, if you choose to give it, the survey questions do not ask for personal information. Your answers are stored without being tied to who you are, and the results are published as totals for everyone to read.
While you fill in the survey, your browser keeps your answers on your own device so you do not lose them if you close the tab. They are removed from your device when you submit.
Giving your email is optional. If you do, we store it and use it for two things only:
- To send you the survey results when they are published.
- To tell you when the next year's survey opens.
We store your email separately from your survey answers, with no link between them, so your email cannot be used to find out what you answered. We keep it until you ask us to delete it.
We will never sell your email or share it with third parties. You can ask us to delete it at any time by emailing bernt@stateofcms.com or by replying to any email we send you.
Spam protection with Cloudflare Turnstile
The survey page uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that answers come from a person and not a bot. Turnstile loads from Cloudflare's servers, so Cloudflare receives your IP address and some technical information about your browser. When you submit, we also send your IP address to Cloudflare to confirm the check. Cloudflare uses this information only to tell people from bots, as described in the Turnstile privacy addendum.
Your IP address
To stop one person from sending the survey many times, we count how many times each IP address submits per hour. We do not store your IP address. We turn it into a hash: a scrambled code made with a secret key that changes every day, so the code cannot be turned back into your IP address or used to follow you from one day to the next. The code is kept apart from your answers and deleted after one day.
Where your data is stored
Survey answers and email addresses are stored with Supabase on servers in the EU (Ireland).
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you, and you can withdraw your consent at any time. Email contact@stateofcms.com. Your answers are not linked to you, we cannot find or delete a single person's answers. If you think we handle your data wrongly, you can complain to the data protection authority in your country.
Analytics
We count visits with Plausible, which is anonymous and uses no cookies. Read more in our cookie policy.
Who is responsible
State of CMS is organized by Bernt Roalkvam, who is responsible for your data. Contact: contact@stateofcms.com.
